My Christmas

Well we all know what Tamsin got up to at Christmas, but her owner had a great time too. Did the usual cruise of the local neighbourhood looking at fairylights... (pity I cant work out my action/night camera settings! lol). Then spent the traditional Christmas Day with the inlaws in house overlooking the beach. Always fun. My fatherinlaw is always the joker and this year was no exception, with my brotherinlaw getting baked beans as one of his presents... Surprisingly, (thanks to F.I.L. again) my cat Minkya was even treated to a present from my sister-in-law's pets! How sweet! :))

And here is one of the cupcakes I baked for the day as a treat for the kids. So cute!
Also spent Boxing Day relaxing at home with my dad over. Was sunny again so swam and watched dvds. Not over yet though, cause tomorrow we're off again to see inlaws mothers side up the coast. Its a long Christmas in this household...

Sold!

Forgot to mention that I sold one of my drawings (pictured above) at the recent exhibition of our art class works. Woo hoo! This was the drawing that most of my friends said was their fav, so not surprised it was the one that sold. They also said they hoped to exhibit our stuff again soon so are holding onto the rest of the drawings so will see what becomes of it.
Below is a drawing I did after the exhibition entries had closed, but it ended up being my personal favourite. Who would have thought drawing someones unironed shirts would be so much fun! lol

Teeeeeeeeeeeeeeth...who needs them!

Welllllll... haven't I had a whirlwind of a week... Last week I started to get a bad toothache when one of my wisdom teeth decided it wanted to get infected, which in turn gave me an infected ear and throat too. Was in a lot of pain and started on antibiotics. It wasnt getting better and knew I had to face the inevitable... the dentist! My dentist suggested the last time I saw him that I get all 4 wisdom teeth out as a precaution against infections such as this, but I insisted I didnt need to as was in no pain. Nothing like a bit of agony to make me take heed! So anyway, decided to bite the bullet (excuse the tooth pun) and book to have all 4 teeth extracted within days. Then began the horror stories from friends of what to expect. Some said swollen faces, painful jaw etc. I was totally freaaaking out and was almost ready to cancel the dentist and insist instead on being knocked out under general anaesthetic at the hospital, however in the end decided to face my fears and get it done as planned.
Funny thing was... once I was in the chair and had my IV sedation, I dont remember much else. Didnt feel any pain and havent really felt much since. Just take painkillers and rest and has all been quite rosy. No face swelling, no painful gums. Even went back to eating solid food the next day! Sometimes the fear of an event is the most horrific part... So here is gummy bear signing off for the night :)

How much is that doggy in the window?

Went shopping today, and as always, stopped by the pet store to see what cuties were for sale. If was not for my policy to only buy pets from animal rescue shelters, I would have come home with a carload of puppies! Sooooo cute!

Im swiiiiiming in the raaaain...

Was raining today. A nice warm rain, which meant that the pool was beautiful and warm too. Decided to spontaneously skinny dip, being careful to try and hide from every possible neighbours view in the process lol. I love swimming in the rain. So cathartic...

An artist

Well I'm starting to feel like an artist again... spent the day framing my drawings (those selected by my teacher who is the exhibition curator) and dropped them off ready to be shown alongside my peers. Still a bit wierd to be exhibiting drawings of things I wouldnt want to put on my own wall e.g. fish and skulls, but each week's topic was set as a challenge. Will be fun to attend the exhibition launch soon.
Anyway, thought I would share a photo of Tony, below. He's the random rooster who has decided to claim my art school as his new home. Apparently he just turned up one day and noone is fast or game enough to catch him! lol

Summer is HERE!

Am excited to report, that after a recent run of consistent rain, summer is finally here!!! Over the past two weeks I have swum a number of times, and tonight, after getting home from a stressful day at work, I found myself swimming and sunbaking by the pool at 5pm in 30 degree heat! In fact Im still in my swimwear while typing this blog... might just log out and head back to the pool... (said to make my friends in the Northern Hemisphere slightly jealous :)

Weekend Away

Well... the slacko that I am is only now reporting on a weekend away I had with my sister earlier this month. Was so much fun! I won the flight earlier in the year so flew to Brisbane and met up with my sister who drove down from the Sunshine Coast for a girly weekend. I thought I was organised, but Sue had planned most things down to a T with a two page schedule for fun she had developed. Of course this included shopping, cafes and markets. We stayed at a swanky hotel and were also treated to a day spa pampering. Some of you would already know my anxiety at booking into a hot stone massage only to learn following the booking that it was going to be a guy called Scott who was going to massage my near naked body. OMG! When did guys start working at day spas? Following much hesitation at having this done, I decided it would be a challenge I was to overcome so went ahead. In the end, Scott was really cool and we chatted like girlfriends during the entire session (I have a hunch he liked the colour pink!).
The highlight of the holiday for me was the club my sister insisted we go to on Saturday night. I didnt have any particular expectations, but was blown away at how amazing this place was! The club is called Cloudland and apparently it has won many architectural/design awards. Visiting it I could see why! If I lived more locally, I would be heading there most weekends for a quick drink. Just like stepping into a fantasy movie set and the ceiling of the club is clear glass so at night you can see the stars!! See below photos.

All that glitters...

I bought a t-shirt recently which has some glitter features on it. Looks lovely. What I didnt think through when purchasing this item was how annoying it would be to wash. Mistakingly I just threw the t-shirt into the wash alongside regular clothes and low and behold, my husband now has glitter cargo pants and glittery metal t-shirts. Not sure that Metallica ever intended to design t-shirts that glisten in the sun lol. Anyway, they are only just fresh from the wash, so sshhhh, maybe my husband wont notice ;) lol

Party Party Party

How slack am I, waiting all this time to post my party photos. Oh well, better late than never. As you all know I just turned 30 (cough cough), and I must say I look very rough for my age lol :))

Anyway, the party was sooooo much fun. Am glad I decided to do it all at home cause was more fun and relaxed. All my friends dressed up and we partied like it was 1980 again... woooo hoooo! Here are the photos to prove it.

Fish heads

Last night in art class the tutor plonked three raw fish onto a sheet of paper in front of each of us and said "draw them"! So I did! lol Apparently we are drawing fish again next week. Woo hoo! lol

Byron

What a relaxing few nights away with my friend Kirsty in Byron. We started our adventure in the late afternoon and so made our way to a local hip looking restaurant/bar and sipped on cocktails (well I only had one and she had a mocktail, but wanted to sound cool lol) Every morning I walked along the beach which was just outside the front of our apartment. (see view below. Was great weather so took my camera and snapped away.
We stayed in the brown top right apartment and between us and the beach from where I took this photo, there are wood sculptures which we came to refer to as Woodhenge lolNot quite sure about the story relating to how the pink bra appeared on the beach.
Am curious! lol There were some amazing sunsets as well. And given that Kirsty and I both love photography, we were in our element :)Then came the country drives. MooooooooAnd we went to visit the Crystal Castle where they had amazing scenery and large fossil crystals from Brazil and other places.

Amazing view from the Crystal Palace cafe where we had lunch.

Some other nice eating out experiences.

And I can certainly say that after 4 days up North I feel more relaxed. Which is good, considering Im just about to be invaded by my sister and her little family of gorgeous little rascals :)

The end.
