Shit of a morning.... literally! lol

Look at this face.... no, its not the innocent face of a kitten I once let nestle in my lap. Its the face of my now fully grown, deviant cat, otherwise known as "the devil"! lol

This morning I was just getting on with business (was meant to be working from home) and was sorting some stuff that was in our loungeroom downstairs when I noticed a really bad smell nearby. Apparently my cat decided that the nice rug we had laid in the loungeroom was her new kitty litter tray so we found traces of cat poo around the rug. (Looks as though it was a couple of days worth, which says something for my housekeeping lol).

Anyway, so I tried to teach her a lesson by chasing her (and I DID have to chase her a bit), catching her and carrying her to the carpet to show her the mess and say "NO, NAUGHTY MINKYA" in a serious voice. She managed to run away again to another part of the house so I chased her again and repeated my discipline. Each time I also carried her to her kitty litter tray and put her in it.

Feeling rather proud of my newly found "cat whispering" skills (lol), I started back upstairs to get changed and prepare for the rather onerous task of cleaning the mess. Well..... as I was coming down the stairs, what did I see.... I saw the little defiant S#*#T of a cat doing it again, before my very eyes!!! Aghhhhhhhhhhhhh

So needless to say, my morning was a barrel of fun, thanks to little evil eyes here. lol

work....

Had a frustrating day at work... was set for a full day of interviews for new staff, and only two of the five applicants even bothered to turn up! What the heck sort of world are we living in? And you know its a bad day when the outstanding of the two remaining applicants used the term "kick ass" in the interview. lol

Two more interviews tomorrow. Anyone want a job? lol

settling in...

Well here I am... typing this from my new home.... oh the chaos! lol
Its great to be here, although very strange living amidst lots of unpacked boxes.
Will no doubt take us months.
There are heaps of things I could show you in photos, but will just start with the major transformation that was the carpeting and painting of the house.
Although we had a few dramas with the Godfather of paint, overall I am happy that it looks much more like a place I want to live in, and less like a step back into the 1970s! lol
Here are a few before and after shots for your interest...

The stairwell from the top and below...

The master bedroom...

The lounge room and dining room...

And the lounge with some of our furniture dumped in it. We're gonna get a new lounge suite, as this is just the sofa bed that my fatherinlaw is using while he is helping us unpack. Will also be great when we put up all our photos/pictures and medieval weapons! lol

And now for the grand finale...... drum rolllllll...... amidst the chaos, we decided that our PCs needed to be set up as a matter of priority..... is starting to feel like home again!! ~ lol

Stay tuned for more exciting episodes of...
The not so young and the very restless! lol

SL shut down...

Well here I am, the final day online before we get internet disconnected and pack up the PC. Sigh... As you can see from the above photo, my SL/RL friend Jasmine is performing CPR on me as I have fainted from the shock of having no SL access for two weeks! lol
All exciting re house move and will be great to start my first life in a nice new home (yes, occasionally I do live in my FIRST life! lol). Will eventually reconnect my PC and rejoin my SL too, only this time from the second story of the new house and from my cool new office with a bay window. Great thing will also be the ability to pause from SL and go have a dip in the pool. mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Will miss all my SL friends, but hope the hiatus is short lived and I am back online ASAP. You can still send IMs and emails, which I can read from work.

Miss you already!

stressssssssssssss

Am really feeling the stress associated with getting renovations done to your house.... Handing over the keys, and saying "sure, I trust you to do the right thing by me and this house". Couldn't sleep last night worrying about whether or not the painters got what I meant when I said "ummmmm, errrrr, not good enough honey" and asked them to rectify paint finishes that were less than acceptable. Havent even been to see the carpet since its been laid... will do that today. All I know is that he rang me after I left there to say that the house alarm wouldnt stop going off when he turned the mains on to use the power. aghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Packing, packing and more packing today.... so much to do, condensing 37 years of hording into one removal truck. Pleased to report we ARE getting rid of 1/3 of our furniture and household stuff to give to woman's refuge. That will leave us free to buy some nice new stuff.
Aghhhh the stress of moving....

Have to remember what they teach people in stress management class.... "Go to your happy place.." ta da!

Renos...

Spent today doing minor renovations on our house while hb at work. Did heaps.... removed all picture hooks (and there were heaps!), unscrewed and removed all towel racks in two bathrooms and chissled away at removing a wall of mirror tiles, all in preparation for the painters starting tomorrow. Funny thing about the mirror tiles was that I forgot to bring goggles, so had to wear my sunglasses inside while cracking tiles so as to not get splinters in my eyes. Quite hard to do with dark shades... lol Note to everyone renovating their houses at this time... PLEASE... NO WALLPAPER OR MIRROR TILES!!! You will save the next person a lot of grief! lol

Met with "the Godfather" again today. Handed over the keys to our house for him and the mob to do their stuff over the next week. Saves me having to be there overseeing the painting.... and besides... as if Im game enough to say... "no, you cant have keys" when he asks in that intimidating tone.... "yes, sir, take my keys... and while youre at it, here is my wallet and my first born child..." lol

Our new house... woo hoo!

Well its finally OUR house! woo hoo! Got the keys following settlement midday today and spent the arvo with tradespeople quoting for new carpet and paint throughout house. $12,000 later.... aghhhhh. Will all look great when finished though. Funny thing is that our painter is some italian dude who sounds exactly like the Godfather! lol So when he called to make an appointment to meet, I thought I was in trouble with the mob! lol
Above is the fantastic view from my kitchen window... I think its of the mountains. Quite serene as you can hear the birds, rather than cars. The other photo is from our back fence. There is a top balcony to the left overlooking the gardens and the distant views (paint railings look old cause it was raining, but they are a nice colour when dry). The bottom level outside is a full patio where we will be putting bbq and outdoor dining setting.
Soooo much still to do, but its a lot of fun... fortunately am getting some time off work to do. Stay tuned for some before and after shots of the more shabby parts of the house.
If you dont hear from me in a while... its prob cause Ive pissed off the painter! lol
