Up Up and Away...

Well today is the day... am almost packed and fly in a few hours. First stop Dubai aiport for 3 hours (hope the shopping is good! lol), then onto UK for a couple of nights, then to Rome to start my two week tour up to Venice.

Talk about having last minute crisis though. Yesterday I lost my only credit card and was starting to freak out about how I was going to manage overseas without it .... but, fortunately, today I retraced my steps and found it back at a shop I was at and collected it. Woo hoo. Now Im free to spend up big... as I should!! lol

This will be the longest I have been away in ages but I guess my recent US trip was a taster. So NOT looking forward to the long flight. I usually dont watch two movies in a row cause I get bored, but expect Im gonna be watching about 6 to keep me distracted from the discomfort of economy classed seating. Only hope Im seated next to nice people, so the journey is less tedious.

After a great deal of anxiety leading up to this trip, I can finally say Im feeling peaceful about it.... which is a nice way to be.

I will try and check my emails when I can so please stay in touch and let me know whats happening. Just dont tell me that SL is more fun now that Im away! lol

Was prompted to do this today cause got a surprise phone call from an old school friend whom I hadnt seen for 18 years! WOW! We were chatting about old times, and reliving the many relationships we had been negotiating back in our late teens/early 20s. Ahhh... I feel a song coming on... "meeeeemmmmrieeeeees... like the corrrner of my minnnnnnnnd. Misty watercoloured meeeemmmrieeeeeeeees, of the wayyyy we werrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeee." lol

A lazy day by the pool...

Its a hard life, this week off work, just lazing by the pool. Wouldn't wish it upon anyone... lol

Today I did it... swam in my pool for the first time! woo hoo. It was still cold, but refreshing. The sun was really warm so also sunbaked and tried to ensure I wasnt in view of neighbours. Applied some Reef Tanning Oil which I havent used since a teenager and the scent of coconut oil immediately transported me back to being 16. Ohhh the smell of summer! mmmmm

All might be sounding glamourous up until this point, but thought you might like to know the final twist... while lazing on my towel on the waters edge with my arm and leg dangling in the pool, I rested my magazine over my face to protect me from the sun... I then fell asleep briefly. When I woke up, the magazine pages had melded with the sunscreen and the print had come off on my face... When I went inside again I was embarrassed to see that I had print which read "Australia's hottest supermodels" across my cheek!! lol ... hardly! lol

The Cleeeeeaaan Pool!

Greetings to all my friends overseas heading into winter. Just wanted to give you a taste of our lovely Australian climate and my now clean pool!!! lol (although cant brag too much, cause water still too cold to swim!) lol

The lonnnnng weekend...

Had a varied long weekend, with a public holiday today. Spent Saturday doing stuff around the house, cause still heaps to do, Sunday hung out with my friend Brooke over a lazy brunch in a nursery cafe. Monday (work holiday) spent cleaning once again, then off to new local shops to check out whats on offer (hey, who needs an excuse to shop? lol). Then came home and attempted to do some preparation for work. Am gonna be acting in General Manager role while my boss is away this week and was given the task of planning organisational restructure for programs affecting 400 staff. Not an easy task, nor fun really, cause ultimately any changes I make will also affect my own role. Couldnt quite focus on the task when took the stuff to do over coffee in local cafe (my usual weekend work mode) so brought it back and completed it while listening to Ricky Martin CDs. lol Is it wrong to plan the restructure of staff positions while dancing? Am pleased to know that at least after I had finished planning, I still had a job. Phew.

Met someone recently in SL who, after one hour of conversation forwarded me a link to his personalised Twitter home page....

Now "I" know I'm not psycho, but does he? lol

Not sure whether you are familiar with this new phenomenom, but up until yesterday I wasnt. Basically its a site where you are able to log information every 10 mins or so (presumably via phone text) providing updates about your whereabouts and what exciting things youre doing. Now call me crazy... (although I'll slap you in the face if you do! lol), but this screams amazingly rediculous to me for a number of reasons....

Who in their right mind wants people to see what they are up to every minute of their day? Would make for very interesting reading for friends of a Second Life user... Might read like this:

FRIDAY NIGHT - PARTY NIGHT

7pm: Just signed into SL 7:15pm Getting a drink 7:20pm: Back playing SL 8pm: Toilet break 8:10pm: Pixelated - Drinking cocktails, dancing in a sexy black dress at the hottest night club and socialising with all my fantastic friends - WOOT! - Real Life: Sitting at my PC in flannel PJ's and ugg boots drinking green tea! lol - woot?).

And why would you want to give people the ability to also keep track of your whereabouts in a way which would let them stalk you? Stalker would see entry: "heading for quiet walk in deserted park" and think, hmmmmm, this is just too easy! A thief might think "hmmmm, house empty for next 30 mins - bloody fantastic!"

But really, who the heck even has time to give up-to-date reports about their comings and goings? As it is I find it hard to keep up with things (outside of SL of course! lol I know my priorities). My entries would likely start with a friendly tone and then just deteriorate... 1.50pm: just finished great lunch with work colleagues 1.55pm: Just about to go into important budget meeting 2pm: Frantically looking for important budget paperwork to take to meeting 2:10: still looking for bloody paperwork.... now running late for the meeting 2:15: might actually FIND paperwork if I didnt have to keep providing these bloody updates every 5 mins!!!! 2.20: STOP FRIGGEN' PROMPTING ME FOR THESE F*%#*N UPDATES - AGHHHHHHHHH!!!

Anyway.... you get the drift.... lol
