Holiday snaps...

Here are a collection of photos from my recent holiday down the NSW coast. Was great to get my camera out again and capture some images of things one might usually take for granted...

As a creative person, I like to view the world differently... everything is a photo opportunity if you see it creatively. Its true what they say...
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

The following photos are of a bush at the front of the place we were staying at. I didnt even really notice it until I was packing the car to leave... and then thought... WOW... what a beautiful plant...

Other images from our garden include percy our friendly grasshopper! (E.T. phone home! lol)My poor husband had to be very patient cause as we went four-wheel driving around the countryside, I would ask him to stop every 10 minutess cause I saw something I wanted to photograph... for example...

We then set out on a bush walk... and my husband wandered ahead... cause I was mesmerised by things along the way... what most people probably wouldnt even notice... intrigued me...

Some of the Aussie mountains for my overseas friends...

We also stopped at Stanwell Park on the way home and was great to watch people handgliding from the mountain peak I was standing on right down to the beach below. An amazing view and an adventure that I would one day like to participate in... if ever I can overcome my fear of heights!

I dont know why I never notice it at the time, but my husband has a thing where he always manages to sneak "the finger" into any photo I take of him... he knows I will notice it later and even though I may be annoyed, usually I laugh. lol

Hows this for a rental car? lol NO, we didnt rent it!

Here are some photos of the amazing views and sunsets from our balcony... was awesome!

And here is the view from my spa! lol

The beach... where I walked and swam... and dreamt of the future...

Yes God, is that you? What....? Its time to go home now? Damn! lol

The moral to this story is... never take an aspiring photographer away on holiday with you (unless of course, you too are an aspiring photographer) lest you be delayed by the snapping of images at every port.... Cause believe me... EVERYTHING is a photo opportunity if you just let yourself see it through different eyes....

the end...

Taking a break...

We're heading off for a much needed beachside holiday today. Hope to be doing heaps of photography, reading, watching DVDs, walking on the beach, swimming, jewellery making, writing, drawing.... whatever takes my fancy really... Talk more when I get back... IF I come back! lol

Silly photo of the week

Have decided to start a theme. Will put up a new silly photo each week. This one always makes me laugh...

All in the family...

My father in law is staying with us now and he is quite a character. As I type this he is having a shower and I notice that the bathroom door is wide open. Damn, dont need to see that!! lol Another day he visited us on his way out on a date and within a matter of minutes he was half undressed, changing clothes in our hallway. What's with older men and public nudity? lol Or perhaps its just my quirky family... The other funny thing is his dating habits. After divorcing recently he started up with singles parties and also asked for my assistance to set him up on an online dating site, claiming to be 10 years younger than he really is... cause apparently "everyone on these sites lies about their age"

Funny as he is though, he is also really cool... pretty hip for an old fella... Happy to have him around - so long as he keeps his "old fella" covered!!! lol

And dont get me started on my OWN dad.... OMG! That would take a whole blog! lol

Ghost Town

Went to the cinema today to see a movie called Ghost Town. Now Im a big fan of Ricky Gervais, as two of my favourite TV shows are the UK version of The Office and Extras. This movie, however is less slapstick comedy and more dramatic. The snapshot of the movie is that its about death and unresolved stuff that people need to deal with in order for spirits to be transported to the afterlife. Worth seeing.

Weather extremes

Have to say that the weather has been a little confusing. A couple of weeks ago there was extreme heat and bushfires (still exists in southern part of Australia), but the past week there has been non-stop rain in Sydney! Been nice to have Sydney cooled off and my weary and withered garden renewed, however now they are warning of potential threat of flooding! Bizarre! Global warming effects perhaps? Aliens? lol
Thanks to all my friends overseas who have been enquiring re the bushfires. Although they arent near me at this time, the devastation of the 180+ lives lost has touched our whole nation. In addition to the loss of life, there was also mass loss of flora, fauna and property, in fact some whole towns were wiped out. The photo below is sooooo cute and depicts how the tragedy has also impacted nature.

Bushfires...

Australia is really suffering with this extreme heat. Some parts of the country have reached 47 degrees celsius and there are currently 59 separate fires burning around NSW alone. In other parts of Australia it is even worse, with 0ver 100 people having already been reported dead as a result of the fires. The number is growing... here is a link to our web news for updates.

The past month...

So what have I been up to over the past month? Nothing too exciting actually, mostly trying to escape the heat with my pool. Did go to a Bollywood themed hens night last weekend though which was pretty cool as we dressed in indian clothes, danced bollywood style, got our hands painted in henna and ate some delicious indian food before breaking out in karaoke... lol

The heatwave...

Sydney has become a hotbox over the past month with consistently hot temperatures, often in the late 30's-40s. Wanna swap? Taped this video while driving today.
