Sweet holidaaaays

Woooo hoooo, Im finally on holidays again. 3 weeks off to celebrate my 21st birthday :)) Tomorrow Im flying up the coast with a friend to Byron Bay for a little bit of adventure, rest and recreation. We're staying in apartments overlooking the beach.... Am already practicing my slooooow breaaaathing.... ommmmmm ommmmmm..... I feel better already :)

Art Class

Am still having a great time pretending to be an artist each week at art school. Forgot how much fun drawing can be! Each week we are given a drawing challenge, to try and get us using different tools and drawing subjects. Above was the first person I have drawn. I cant say I enjoy that, cause its darn hard! Especially cause you dont want to offend the person when they walk around to see your work. I probably should have drawn her to look like Tamsin... then she would have been flattered :))

Above we had to use black charcoal to draw some white bottles and below we used coloured pencils to do still life fruit.

Last week we had to draw a toy which was placed in front of us. We have been encouraged to experiment and not just draw the colours as we see them.

Below the challenge was to draw a still life, but only one feature was allowed to be full detail, the rest was meant to be sketchy.

Next week I'm up for nude drawing..... unless its cold, in which case I will wear my sheepskin boots ;) lol

I am not an animal...

Went to the dentist after work today. Remembered why I hate them so much. Had to have four fillings, and, to ensure my face was suitably numb, I had to have four preceding large needles in my gums. OMGGGG painful!!!! Then had to endure having a face, nose and lips that were completely numb for hours.... I felt like the Elephant Man when having to communicate with my husband and had to stop myself from dribbling... "I am not an animal!" lol Was quite amusing trying to eat dinner. I probably still have a chicken wing lodged inside my cheek that I cant feel. damn dentist! I HATE YOU! lol

Grey thumb...

Decided I needed to get out in the garden today for some fresh air. Was great to spend a few hours out there listening to the birds, breathing the crisp air and turning a blind eye to many of the overgrown weeds. lol

What I DID notice, however, was how pathetic some of my potted vegetables and fruit were developing. The strawberry plant bears no strawberries, the lettuce is barely enough for a sandwhich and the snow peas.... aherm, yes, the monstrosity to the left is in fact meant to be snow peas. Did manage to get ONE pea from the scrub before uprooting it all and planting something slightly more spectacular. They should give me a couple of weeks worth of bragging. lol

I also went in search of a camelia plant to fill a gap in my large raised garden bed. Never leave me unattended in a garden centre or I will come away with 10 times the items I set out to purchase. See below.

Bloody Freezing!

Its been very cold lately... consistently under 10 degrees... which makes it one of our coldest winters in years! Took this photo of an ice covered park. Brrrrrrrr.............

Second week of drawing class. So much fun to be back expressing my creativity. Still a little rusty, but its all coming back to me slowly...
